Are you a recent journalism student looking to grow as a content writer with Canada’s leading housewares design company?  Flex your storytelling muscles and take Umbra product content to new heights – driving brand awareness, product discovery and consumer engagement!
 
What you’ll do …
 
You will research product keywords, write and edit a TON of product content for ecommerce sites (internal and external partner sites), packaging, emails, landing pages, and more.
 
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders from Marketing, Category Management and Design to identify key product attributes and discover rich stories.
  • Research, write, proofread and edit content for multiple mediums (ecommerce, landing pages, banners, social media).
  • Deliver product content on deadline.
  • Show-off those grammar skills and become the in-house expert when it comes to proper written language.
  • Support the digital marketing team with keyword research relating to products on both Google and Amazon.
 
What you’ll bring …
 
Experience/ Education: Completion of a college or university degree in journalism, marketing communication or creative writing. Experience with a school publication or personal blog an asset.  Written portfolio is required for consideration. Editors of Canada certification an asset. Bilingual (written French or Spanish) an asset.
 
Technical Skills:
·         Experience with content management system i.e. Wordpress
·         Keyword research tools an asset i.e. Google Adwords, Google Trends, Moz, Amazon
·         Basic understanding of SEO principles
 
Proofreading Expertise: You are the expert in exceptional written English with impeccable grammar skills. Grammatical errors glare at you and you can’t help but fix them!
 
Creative Communicator: You are a natural born story teller proficient at developing brand-enhancing written content. You approach your copy from a customer point of view and can uncover those hidden benefits that will sell product. You have an interest in design and increasing a product’s value through copy excites you.  
 
Entrepreneurial: You demonstrate a “no job is too small” mentality; you like to roll up your sleeves, jump in and get it done! You are a goal oriented, high achiever. You are agile and adept at working in a multi-stakeholder environment. 
 
Attitude: You have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and can adapt to changing priorities. You have an appreciation for design.
 
Relationship Building: You encourage collaboration and are a team player who can develop and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Organization Skills: You thrive in a fast-paced environment. You have a strong sense of urgency, are self-motivated and work effectively under pressure. You can prioritize team efforts and meet tight deadlines.
